I'm attending ComicCon for the first time this year, so I thought I'd better produce my first art book also. It's filled with almost 80 pages of paintings and drawings, including old art, new art, and updated art. I only printed 20 copies and I won't have a booth, so if you're interested you'll have to (A.) Go to comic-con, (B.) track me down, (C.) be one of the first 20 people to do so, and (D.) Have $30.
I will, however, be doing demonstrations at the
Schoolism and
LAAFA booths, so if you're wondering where to find me, I'll post a schedule of when I'll be at each booth soon.
Here's a cropped sample from one of the new images in the book:
Hope to see some of you there!
Man! that's not fair! what about people that live in Seattle and can't attend comic con because crushing?
ReplyDeleteYou better make more books and allow us to buy them online... or I'll track you down, pull all your nose hairs with my evil tweezers of death until you let me buy your book .... which is going to be the best book ever created since gutherberg decided to get his hands dirty!
bil the belgian
Hey Sam... I'm a big fan of your art. Just curious, who did you use to produce only 30 books? Would love to get my hands on one, too!
ReplyDeleteawesome! I'll look forward to your demos and I'll definitely be picking up your book! Is it going to have some material not found online?
ReplyDeleteSamooooooo, you going to do a workshop for LAAFA in the future then?
ReplyDeleteI want a book :(
Can you put me down for one if you have any left over?
ReplyDeleteVery cool!
ReplyDeleteMister Bil: I will probably make it available online, but there are a few images in it (fanart) that I might have to look into legal stuff before selling online. One of those things where nobody's going to care if you sell 20 books, but if you sell more, somebody else is going to want a piece of the pie.
ReplyDeleteDennis: I used Blurb. It's not the ideal solution, because your books cost a little more through them, but I made a last-minute decision and didn't have any other option. But still, not a bad choice if you're only going to produce a few books.
Danny: Yep, I think 20+ images not seen online.
Tom: Yeah, I think it's scheduled in October.
Redbeard: I'll try to make some available online.
Me and (i bet) a lot of others would really like to see your book available on stores as soon as possible, since i live 12 hours flight from there.
ReplyDeleteExciting! I will have to track you down. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited! Be sure to have some copies for us this fall!

ReplyDeleteThat is so cool--I love the lighting coming off of her face. I totally want to go to comic con someday. And I love that its like a scavenger hunt to get your books--the added intrigue will probably get you orders :D
ReplyDeleteJedi Master Sam, how dare you only show part of a painting - stop playing with our emotions. I gotta find a way to get to the con, great work.
ReplyDeleteWhat a happy picture of an elf. I can really feel the wind blowing in that one.
ReplyDeleteHey Sam Hope to see you at Comic-Con I'd loved to get a Copy of you book is it hard cover?? I hope so Comic-Con can be brutal on the paper backs.
ReplyDeletethis painting is so air-y. I love it. Good luck with the books at the con. Won't be there this year, but hope to see somewhere online to purchase it later.
ReplyDeleteShoot. MY book only costs$9.00. Paperback. Want one? I can fix you up.
ReplyDeleteI like the teaser image, honey.
your work is wondefull!!!!!wow!!!
ReplyDeletefantastic!!
Aseph: Unfortunately, it's softcover, but I'm going to sell it in plastic bags that should take the brunt of most scratches and dings.
ReplyDeleteK: I do want one! I wish I could make mine less expensive, but I have to find a less costly publisher than blurb first.
Thanks everyone!

ReplyDeleteI didn't know that I purchased such a rare product! The illustrations in your book are vivid and inspiring.
ReplyDeleteAlso, hanks for allowing me to hover around the Schoolism booth. It was a pleasure to meet you and witness you work.
I must have missed you Sam. I had a booth in the small press area. I wanted to get your artbook. :( How can I get one?
ReplyDeleteLove the admosphere and feeling of this one. It suggests not only admosphere, but temperature and smell. I feel more at peace after looking at this. Candid and endearing.
ReplyDeleteA way more powerful image than the more conventional "this is what creative asset #32b looks like under flattering lighting conditions".
Great post! Keep it up the good work and also keep posting.
