The Glorious Adventures of the Sunshine Queen

Here's another book I did the cover for.  This one went through a lot of changes along the way so I really had to hurry at the end.  I'm happy with how it turned out considering, but I also wish I could have taken more time and really made it stunning.  Oh, and the book is great.  I definitely recommend it.

I want to take my shoes off and walk in that grass, it looks so soft!

So, a texture question...

There's such great, rich texture in this, and it has a similar feel as the warrior bug painting you did a while back.... is there a lot of "borrowed" texture in this painting, and if so... how heavily do you rely on textures usually in your paintings?

Thanks everyone!

Logan: Depends on the deadline, usually, and the final look I'm going for. If I had more time I probably would have polished this a bit more and I think you'd see the textures more as an integrated part of the painting. But when I'm in a rush I do the bare minimum necessary to keep the painting from looking like a texture hack-job.
