Chicken scratch

Went to figure drawing for the first time in months.  I need to go more often, I learn so much about observation and structure every time, even when the process is frustrating.

  7. I like those edges. It is funny because some of them seem to work against the common rules ("soften in shadow, sharpen in light...") and work perfectly.
Have I told you lately I love your work?

  13. So do you bring home your real-media sketches and work them up digitally, or do you find some way to bring digital painting to the model? :O

  32. Your attention to light is simply gorgeous!

How did you get into digital painting? I can never seem to do it right...

    ReplyDelete
  33. DeAnna: I got into it way back when the first versions of Painter and Photoshop were out, mostly because of the people I worked with back then.

  35. Love your work Sam. I keep coming back to this blog for inspiration. Ive been wondering...do you add the bathing suits yourself or is that what the models wear? Ive been to quite a few open workshops and the models are always nude.

  36. Mike: Several people at our studio have pushed for nude models but our studio managers have shot the idea down again and again. I'm not skilled enough at figure drawing to really notice the difference so I don't care either way.
