Neversink is coming out this week and I just got a bunch of copies from the publisher. It turned out really nice!
This is one of the interior spot illustrations; it turned out pretty small in the book so here's a larger look.
I'll post some more of the interior art here over the next couple of weeks, so stay tuned!

cute!
ReplyDeletebut he must really have strong toe muscles to hold on to the branch like that
Nice! Is this natural media or some kind of Painter magic?
ReplyDeleteZeitwolf: You're absolutely right, I was imagining him leaning toward us so his weight was more over his right foot when I drew it, but I didn't justify that shift when I added shading. Good thing it's tiny in the book. :)
ReplyDeletePibby: I did a black and white sketch digitally then printed it out light and did pencil over that.
Muito bom, parabéns! Ficou incrível, cara!
ReplyDeleteNice work Sam!
ReplyDeleteHopefully you used this nice tutorial! Was this tutorial your inspiration?

ReplyDeleteVery cute.
ReplyDeleteThis fantastic I love your work.
ReplyDeleteI used to know a Mark Montague. He made pots.
ReplyDeleteLove the owl. Writing to Mar about you.
JeffKunze: Haha! Just like Lee J. Ames.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for the niceness!
That's terrific, Sam. That owl is a great little character.
ReplyDeleteSame stupid comment as the other two on the newer blogs, except one was also a ditto, too.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to go sit in a corner and brood. Wait - that's kind of a birdy thing to do, huh? Birds without menopause.
I have to leave this comment. It would be wrong if I didn't..
ReplyDeleteI found this owl on google search and I loved it so much...
that I got a tattoo of it on my shoulder! Let me know if you ever want to see a picture of it. I'd be glad to share! :)
S. Deloria: Yes, for sure! My e-mail is on my profile page: http://www.blogger.com/profile/14202942576576063110
ReplyDeleteHaha, cool draw, he looks like Archimède in "Merlin l'enchanteur".
ReplyDeleteI always found this character so funny. ^^
After finally deciding to get an owl as my first tattoo, I found this little guy in an image search and fell in love. Seems S. Deloria and I have the same idea, but my tattoo will be going on my wrist. I'll be sure to email you a picture when I get it done!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, finding your blog inspired me to buy Neversink. I can't wait to read it and see more of your amazing work.
