Work in Progress Environment

Still pushing this one around, and open to feedback if anyone sees something I should fix as I go.

  1. Perhaps you could make that main formation look more like a duck?

  2. I think it looks pretty good!
My only comment would be about the clouds. Out of context, they kind of look like segments from a skeletal hand.
It might help if they were designed a little differently and maybe incorporated a somewhat similar edge treatment as the far background atmosphere/clouds.

  3. I think the clouds could be cool. I saw them as those whispy but blotted clouds that kinda go across the sky like chalk.

so i guess i would like to see the next phase of polish?

  4. That's awesome. Your design is so good that it looks good small. I was surprised when I zoomed in that it was as rough as it is. My stuff always looks like crap when I shrink it down. Great job.

  5. At this stage, do you tend to paint on one layer, or lots of layers?

  6. Hey Sam, Nice wip! I would have to agree, the placement of the clouds are distracting and don’t really fit in. Maybe some softer clouds pushing them back in the environment adding more depth Also would bring the boulder down a bit more from the top edge of the image.

  7. Umm. There're an awful lot of angles here, but I'm not sure why - what is it supposed to be doing? I think marilyn's suggestion might be worth a second look.

  10. Thanks everyone for the comments, especially Nasan, Kyle, and Darnell!

Dustin: I'm just painting in one layer for this one. I used to have the sketch on a multiply layer but I deleted that when I got the painting far enough along.
